Robin Taney Headshot RS 3x4How long have you been in business?
For five years.

Why did you begin your business?
I love working with creative entrepreneurs and small business owners and I love to write. My career, although woven together like a patchwork quilt, has always had an element of media relations and relationship building to it. I wanted to help small business owners get visibility because their stories are so important. While doing research for my business plan, I learned that small businesses are the largest sector of U.S. based businesses yet the most underserved by PR firms. They are keeping the U.S. economy afloat, yet 8 out of 10 go out of business within 18 months.

What is your mission for your business?
To help women entrepreneurs and small business owners find and be found by the clients they were meant to serve.

What makes you a thriving woman in business?
I’m always thinking about how I can best share what I know, so that it will help as many women as possible.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business? That in order to get noticed, you have to Get R.E.A.L. I’m the “Get R.E.A.L” Girl because I shoot straight with my audience, but it’s also about embracing the four core principles that I believe every business needs to be successful. You have to be realistic, engaging, authentic, and of the mindset that you want to have a long-lasting relationship with your clients. In other words, you have to be real.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? How big the disconnect is between what business owners think PR is and what it can do for them. Too many think it’s about publicity stunts and covering up scandalicious behavior. They don’t realize that PR is really about creating a compelling reason for your ideal client to connect and engage with you.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business?
I love being able to do what I was meant to do and know that I’m helping women get noticed and get results.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business?
I want to get on a national stage. I do a lot of public speaking/teaching workshops and I love seeing the eyes light up when I’ve shared a tip that can transform their business, but I want to reach as many people as possible, so my goal for this year is to seek out more national speaking opportunities
